Student ASSI (m/f/d) for the salw project

bicc is an independent international research institute dedicated to research and policy advice on the conditions, dynamics and consequences of violent conflicts to contribute to a more peaceful world. bicc was founded in 1994 with the support of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is a member of the Johannes-Rau-Research Community. 

We are looking for a

student assistant (m/f/d)
up to 15 hours per week / renumeration € 13.25 per hour / until 31 January 2025

bicc's advisory project "Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Control in Africa" works closely with African regional organisations such as the African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in the field of small arms control. In the current project phase, several workshops and training sessions are planned for which we are looking for a student assistant (m/f/d) to support our team.

 

Your tasks in particular:

  • Your main task will be to support the project team with the organisation and implementation of the two-week-long "Executive Level Course on Weapons and Ammunition Management" in Berlin and Geilenkirchen from 25 November to 6 December 2024 with high-level participants from our African partner organisations and national small arms commissions
  • Administrative support in the preparation and implementation of project activities (e. g. assist with travel planning and bookings, support the preparation of events and tendering procedures
  • Content-related work (e. g. literature research for publications and studies, assessment of training/course evaluation forms)
  • General office tasks (e. g. maintenance of documentation, support at internal events)

 

 

 

 

 

Your profile:

  • You are interested in the topic of peace and security policies
  • You enjoy office work and have good organisational skills
  • Very good communication and writing skills in German and English (knowledge of French would be an advantage)
  • You enjoy supporting an international team and you have the cultural sensitivity in order to work successfully in a diverse team
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office

 

We are happy to provide the necessary know-how for individual tasks, depending on previous knowledge and interests. Open-mindedness, friendliness and enjoyment of working in an international team are prerequisites for a good working relationship. As your studies should not be neglected, we offer you very flexible working hours. Please note that we can only accept applications from students who are currently enrolled.

Remuneration is based on the corresponding guideline of the Tarifgemeinschaft der Länder (TdL) and amounts to € 13.25 per hour. In addition, paid vacation and an annual special payment are granted in accordance with the regulations of the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L).
